48 hour short film!
Posted in Uncategorized on June 14, 2009 by steveting
Ok people, several weeks ago some buddies and I entered the 48 hours film festival. The goal was to create a short 7min film in the space of 48hrs. We get assigned a genre (in our case family movie), a character (Alex puddle), a prop (a rock) and the a peice of dialoge (”It doesnt fit!”). Well we can finally show it to the public since the competition finished. We were one of the smallest teams (5 people) and I ended up filming all of it but to our suprise in the Dunedin region we made it into the finals and won best script and best actress (go Sophie!). So without adue I present Coffee!
Portrait Time

Several weeks ago I went to Haast to film for my upcoming documetnary ( (http://1080documentary.wordpress.com/). We were lucky enough to stay with a local couple Min and Logan, who ran a greenstone carving shop. They looked after us, feed us and even help me find some nice stones for the rock tumbler. Needless to say I had to figure out a way to replay their kindness so i offered to take their portrait. Here it is, shot with a rolleicord Vb and with Fujifilm NC 400asa speed film. Converted to B&W using photoshop CS3
Prowling on the streets
Posted in Uncategorized on May 5, 2009 by stevetingIt’s been awhile since my last photo update due to my filming of my documentary, so i finally got off my bum and scanned some negatives that have been sitting on my desk for several weeks now. Both shot with my new Nikon FE2 and with Fujifilm pro 160NC color neg. I removed the color in photoshop and tweaked them a bit. tell me what you think!

Hands on Science…the trailers
Posted in Uncategorized on March 27, 2009 by stevetingAt the end of January this year I was lucky enough to be asked to film Hands On Science. Hands On Science is a week long camp for gifted high school students from around New Zealand that have a passion for science. They all meet in Dunedin and spend a whole week at Otago University investigating a topic in the area of science they chose. I was asked to make a 5min promo film and two trailers. Below are the two trailers and the 5min will be up soon! All I can say is these kids were amazing and made my life so much easier as a filmmaker. One of my classmates is lucky to live in a small farmhouse. During one of my visits I stumbled into the garden near the chicken sheds. There was all these lovely overgrown fences and general farm stuff. This is the best shot
